The exhaust turbines can give off well over 1200°C. Most turbos do not operate consistently anywhere near that temperature, the majority of the aftermarket turbos operate safely well under 1000°C and our blankets are rated to withstand much more than that. Regardless, that is a lot of heat that just soaks in the engine bay and can lead to messy heat management. Everything under the bay works better when things are cooler - especially your intake and charge pipes! If you want to prevent melting crucial parts and\/or sensors, lengthen the life of your turbo, and drastically reduce the heat around your engine, you're going to want a turbo blanket.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\r\n\u003ch3\u003eAre there any actual performance gains from usinig a turbo blanket?\u003c\/h3\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eIf you are keeping the heat inside the exhaust turbine housing, that is doing a several things at once. That heat would normally escape the housing through radiation, naturally increasing the surrounding ambient temperature. With less heat loss, its efficiency increases, which leads to better spooling, better airflow and better response.
